The first scheduled night game for the Boilers at Ross-Ade Stadium. Purdue won the toss and deferred, then forced Syracuse to punt on their first drive. Purdue's first drive started off strong, but stalled at the Syracuse 5 with 3 missed opportunities to get 1 yard. The Orange capitalized and built on the momentum by driving 94 yards capped off with QB Garrett Shrader tricking the Boiler defense on the hand-off and running in untouched 3 yds for a TD. Syracuse never really looked back from there.
In the end, Purdue had too many turnovers (4 fumbles, 1 INT) and Shrader was just too much for the defense as he ended up with a shocking 25 runs for 195 yards and 4 TDs. Hudson Card did end up with 32 of 46 for 323 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.
